About the Role

The Development Services branch enables sustainable development for the community on the Sunshine Coast by working with industry stakeholders to achieve timely, customer focused development assessment services, advice and advocacy in the areas of planning, engineering, environment, landscape, building, plumbing and legislative compliance.

As a Development Information Officer, you will work as part of a highly effective and motivated team that is the first point of contact for development information, providing assistance and services to all members of the community on the Sunshine Coast planning scheme and relevant related legislation and processes.

As the successful applicant, you will:
• Provide accurate and timely information, sound advice and assistance to customers through effective questioning, research, analysis, negotiation and conflict management.
• Undertake data input and information management in accordance with established work and quality assurance procedures.
• Prepare correspondence to external customers in accordance with council and statutory requirements to facilitate responses to enquiries and other search and information requests.
• Develop and apply knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation and applicable planning schemes.

This position is a permanent part-time role. During the first 12 months, it can be filled at full-time capacity and will then revert to part-time hours unless business requirements change.

About you

As a professional in Development Information, you will posses developing knowledge of the relevant legislation, policies, standards, regulations and procedures supporting the business practices relevant to the area of work.

You will have the ability to maintain composure and objectivity in difficult situations while maintaining a professional, positive and respectful attitude.

You will have good interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of customer service and information provision.

As a requirement of this role, you will have a Certificate III in Business Administration or other relevant disciplines and/or equivalent experience in a similar role providing customer service.
