Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000

THE MODULAR TEAM

Modular solutions by CEI anticipate and solve ongoing problems for data center operators. Our proven, factory-built and tested data center infrastructure products bring deployments online faster, more reliably, and with less risk than conventional methods.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sr. Product Developer is the primary lead of all product development activities for a single product type. They manage a team that translates customer requirements into specific product form, fit and function, and then producing detailed drawings, 3D models and documents that define the product. The Sr. Product Developer heads a team consisting of Product Developers, Product Engineers and Product Coordinators focused on one or more product types.

Goals & Objectives:
• Provide leadership to all staff in all product development efforts.
• Produce feasible product design that meets the customer’s requirements.
• Assist in transmitting the product definition to the plant team.
• Support the cost pricing and labor estimates facilitated by the project management team.
• Hold product team accountable for specific deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Provide outside consultants with the information they need to complete their deliverables.
• Identify and acquire tools and resources the team needs to fulfill their responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
• Providing leadership and supervision of their product development team.
• Developing the Product Definition Package including drawings, SOW and BOM.
• Support the Project Management team with the BOM and recommended vendor.
• Ensuring team members clearly understand their responsibilities.
• Train and mentor new hires and existing staff.
• Participating in customer meetings where product requirements are discussed.
• Documenting customer requirements.
• Coordinate delivery of design details to the BIM team.
• Review and approval of BIM deliverables through ACC.
• Provide constructability/manufacturability input to the BIM team.
• Provide required information to outside engineering consultants.
• Review and approve deliverables from outside consultants.
• Leading design and engineering meetings and synthesize ideas into manufacturable form factors for further evaluation.
• Assigning specific deliverables to team members.
• Manage design working sessions with the customer and facilitate the evaluation process and option selection.
• Establish the product development schedule and hold the team accountable for completing work on time.
• Preparing customer presentations, including illustrations, bills of materials, layout drawings, section details, and ROM Budgets.
• Partner with their peer product developers as required.
• Facilitate an Ideation kick-off meeting for entire modular team.
• Help Project management kick-off meeting with design details.

Weekly & Monthly Responsibilities:
• Conduct weekly team progress meetings
• Participate in monthly cross product update meetings
• Maintain a best practices library and issue quarterly findings
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Respond to customer’s monthly forecasts
• Prepare product development summary for quarterly all hands meetings.
• Prepare Quarterly brainstorm analysis of at least (1) new cost savings idea.

ABOUT YOU
• Ability to do autonomous research on materials, functions, or processes
• Ability to draw, sketch or illustrate
• Ability to translate abstract concepts into concrete design ideas
• Familiarity with MS Project, ACC, Navis and Bluebeam Revu
• Ability to read and accurately interpret electrical and mechanical design drawings including single line diagrams, control diagrams and process piping diagrams
• Familiarity with OSHA safety provisions
• Familiarity with NETA testing requirements
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E Electrical Safety provisions
• Robust knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes and requirements
• Exceptional manufacturing and/or electrical background

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering.

Licensure/Certifications: N/A

Experience: 4 to 5 years’ experience as a product designer in an industrial environment; or licensed electrician with 6-to-8-year experience as a commercial or industrial electrician with at least 3 years leading modular product manufacturing.
