VP, Brand & Creative

We are looking for a VP of Brand & Creative who will lead this charge – setting the vision, and charting a path, for our Brand through Creative that make Realtor.com the leading brand in Real Estate.
You’ll be leading a diverse group of marketers to shift culture (internally and externally) and generate some of the industry’s most talked about and effective work for both B2C and B2B audiences. We’ve helped bring awareness to Buyer Agency Advocacy and Fair Housing, repositioned the company to focus on First Timers (Renters, Buyers, Sellers), and launched innovative campaigns that have grown Audience faster than the industry. This expansive role will oversee a mulit-disciplinary team including Brand Strategy, Creative, Planning & Operations, Agency Management, Integrated Marketing, and Emerging Markets Marketing (e.g. Rentals) – a new function and critical growth driver. In total a team of 20+ highly motivated team members and multiple agencies … and growing.
The role has the remit and responsibility to lead and deliver our brand and creative agenda, two critical levers of growth for our business.
We balance accelerated creativity and innovation on a foundation of in-person collaboration and flexibility, from inside and outside of our office walls. For this role, one can work three days of their choice in our Austin, TX office and the remaining two days from home.
This role reports directly to our Chief Marketing Officer and works closely with cross-functional partners in Marketing, Design, and Product to set the strategic direction and build best in class campaigns and experiences.
What You’ll Do
• Design, lead and manage a modern brand and creative team, including multiple agencies, to deliver campaigns across ALL marketing channels including Tv, Digital, Email, Paid, Social, Partnerships etc.
• Lead the development of the brand strategy including brand health measurement, setting the brand positioning and narrative and overall leadership of how the brand will come to life in the ecosystem (with consumers, the industry, etc)
• Develop and deliver creative concepts and ideas, founded in unique and relevant insights and programmed for various platforms and audiences that move the needle.
• Identify opportunities to take smart risks and successfully maneuver great ideas forward to execution that deliver results and move the needle for the business
• In addition to working with our primary creative agency, drive decisions on which Agencies to use for what type of work (e.g. Social), managing and setting a significant Production and Agency budget.
• Deliver creative assets for every function within the business including HR, Product, Finance, Comms, etc. Manages a pipeline of 400-600 jobs at any time including intake and delivery processes across the entire organization.
• Continue to grow the newer disciplines and functions of 1) Integrated Marketing to deliver x-channel seasonal and culturally relevant campaigns and owning the Marketing campaign calendar 2) Emerging Markets Marketing to build new business in Rentals, Selling, and New Home Construction.
• Effectively lead executive presentations with strong, clear delivery and a credible point-of-view
• Build a culture of creativity, camaraderie and accountability to business goals, helping to bring out the best of the best of creatives at all levels and to Inspire the entire company.
• Works closely with VP, Research and Insights to develop and test market messaging, campaigns, and brand positioning across multiple LOBs including Buying, Renting, Lending, Selling, and New Construction.
• Works closely with and influences Product, Design, Sales, CSRs to ensure brand consistency and messaging. Makes Product the hero of advertising (when appropriate). Works closely with Product Marketing to determine what features to market.
• Works closely (i.e. daily) with Marketing leadership team to deliver Audience growth goals and key brand tracking attributes, e.g. Preference and Consideration. Critical partnership with SVP of Performance Marketing and Media.
• Responsible for both b2c creative and b2b creative which includes marketing to Agents, Brokers, Lenders, MLSs, Associations etc.
What You’ll Need
• 15+ years of experience in Brand & Creative, preferably in (or for) ecommerce/tech companies. Extra points for marketplace experience and Direct Response experience.
• 10+ years of people leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership, including hiring and developing both managers and individual contributors.
• Preferable (but not required) to have experience on the Agency AND Client side.
• Proven track record of launching brands and campaigns that transform the business in partnership with growth channels, research, and product.
• Proven experience making decisions and setting strategic direction based on research and insights and with strong measurement accountability.
• Proven track record of executing ideas and getting internal alignment for new ideas across an entire company.
• High-bar for art and copy with examples of how they personally shifted creative direction in a company and drove results.
• Experience with both direct people leadership and managing/influencing other leaders.
• Proven track record as a highly effective people leader, including:
• Strong emotional intelligence that enables collaboration and connection across the entire business and agencies.
• Credibility and gravitas to garner the respect and support of the team, leadership team and other key stakeholders.
• Success in attracting and retaining high performing, values aligned team members and creating a team culture where the team can thrive.
