Marketing Lead, Email/Newsletter/Growth

MUST HAVE: Previously scaled email newsletter growth initiatives & subscriber bases successfully, expertise in segmentation & personalization, previously driven audience acquisition across channels, a deep understanding of email deliverability, and strong A/B testing & performance optimization skills

HOURS: East Coast hours AND willingness to regularly check data off standard hours (weekends & evenings included)

This is not a 9-5 job. Based on the success of your contributions, we would like for this person to manage 12+ months down the road.

YOUR ROLE

You will be directly responsible for driving the end-to-end newsletter growth strategy and execution for a couple of Launch Potato’s newest and fastest growing brands (Trivia & Sweepstakes). This is an opportunity to be an owner and a doer, someone who will 10x what this brand is currently doing. You will lead the growth within 2 different verticals (to start) for Email, SMS, and Push. Your strategic direction and direct contributions will directly result in the success of these brands and how well we grow our audiences.

We need a Doer, and the only limitations are your imagination and data-driven creativity as you launch new initiatives and campaigns. Your unique, off-the-beaten-path ideas to re-engage subscribers or out-of-the-box ideas on creating new and enticing messaging streams will drive the needle forward on company performance while positively impacting millions of consumers monthly.

You must be passionate about being hands on in data and utilize insights to drive your email strategies from ideation, to send, to inboxing and action. You are going to be rolling up your sleeves and need to understand consumer psychology and the need for quality content and messaging which will directly impact business OKRs: Revenue, Life Time Value (LTV), and Revenue per User (RPU).

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
• Optimizing and expanding our automation set for prospective and existing subscribers to create more of a “one-to-one” experience, which facilitates our revenue flywheel
• Developing thoughtful and sophisticated omnichannel campaigns across email (primary) and sms & push notifications (secondary)
• Consistently A/B test your creatives, subject lines, and other parts for the creative daily to ensure best in class performance metrics
• Create multiple end to end consumer journeys that increase both engagement and lifetime retention value
• Working cross-departmentally (Messaging, Yield, Ops) to suggest, recommend, and improve onsite experiences
• Using qualitative and quantitative data sets you’ll own the analysis and presentation of results, including individual campaigns, long-standing automations, and the state of the program, flagging trends and offering solutions to make the whole lifecycle and marketing team better
• Partnering with our Messaging Operations Manager to set up automated messaging streams and consumer lists that allow for correct data architecture within our marketing ESP
• Acting as a day to day leader of email code by debugging other teammates’ work and keeping up to speed with the latest trends and platforms
• You have a true owner’s mentality and you want to win more than anything. You’ll figure out how to constantly strive for better performance metrics and engagement across all mediums under your purview.
• A never ending desire to push boundaries to improve the user experience (email & onsite) which, in turn, will drive engagement and revenue – accelerating the flywheel

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
• 4-8 years of email marketing/remarketing experience
• Extensive experience in the performance marketing/lead generation industry
• Proven track record in scaling email newsletter subscriber bases through targeted growth strategies
• Expert in segmentation and personalization techniques to optimize open rates, click-through rates, and overall engagement
• Highly analytical and hands-on expertise with data using primarily first party data
• Experienced with BI tools (we use Looker), Excel/G-Suite, platform data tools, etc.
• Skilled in analyzing audience behavior and leveraging insights to craft data-driven campaigns that drive newsletter growth and revenue
• Hands-on experience with A/B testing, subject line optimization, and campaign performance analysis
• Deep understanding of email deliverability best practices to maintain high inbox placement and engagement
• Experience driving audience acquisition through organic, paid, and referral channels
• Proven experience delivering on department and/or company level key results
• Effectively grown and scaled messaging revenue in previous companies
• Ability to develop and implement content strategies that resonate with diverse audience segments, fostering long-term subscriber loyalty
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to develop cross-department relationships and keep stakeholders informed of performance
• Possess an insatiable curiosity and drive to win

NICE TO HAVES
• Previous experience within the insurance or performance lead generation space
• Worked with paid media teams to understand where the transition from ad to signup is
• Experience with SMS and Push Notifications is highly desirable
• A strong understanding of deliverability drivers
