In its mission to support the arts, Banff Centre includes departments across campus that range from Marketing, Development, hotel guest services, arts administration, and more.

The Senior Business Consultant (SBC) is a role that combines the responsibilities of Systems Analyst, Systems Architect, Business Analyst, Applications Architect, Senior Database Administrator, Senior Developer, and Project Manager. The SBC handles technical and business analysis, leads client meetings, designs systems and architecture, develops software, and manages project delivery. They apply project management methodologies to deliver solutions that meet business and enterprise goals. The SBC provides support for applications, manages database and system operations, and ensures ongoing maintenance and optimization.
Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, ITS, below are some key accountabilities:
• Systems analysis, application development, application support, project coordination, database analysis.
• Develop and support applications in an enterprise environment, learning new technologies as required. Applications may be SaaS, custom-built web or purchased third-party client/server.
• Support users on systems and applications developing end-user documentation as appropriate.
• Design, build, document, and maintain interfaces between various applications and databases.
• Gather requirements and build custom reports, data extracts and interfaces to support custom reporting.
• Respond to, diagnose, and resolve database, application, system and reporting issues.
• Develop excellent working relationships at all organizational levels, with vendors, and internal and external contractors.
• Take part in the after-hours and on-call support as needed, within the IT/S team and with external partners.
• Apply SDLC methodologies to build, test, integrate and deploy custom components across a variety of technologies.
• Work collaboratively on projects with varying roles as developer, technical lead, business analyst or project coordinator.
• Oversee quality, completeness and maintainability of third-party remote support while ensuring security and best practices.
• Assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• A university degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience with business and systems analysis, design, and development methodologies.
• Must have a strong technical background to be able to translate business requirements into a functional technical implementation.
• Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in a variety of systems and technologies including Microsoft SQL, .NET, SQL SSRS, CSS, REST, SOAP, XML.
• Experience with SharePoint Online, Azure, Office 365, Microsoft Graph, Power BI, is an asset.
• Experience using project management best practices and working within a structured PM environment.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate specifications for and to perform coding, testing and debugging of computer programs, interfaces and reports.
• Excellent communication skills along with a proven ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment.
Employment Terms and Benefits
• In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6 month probation period.
• The annual salary for this position is between $69,201.60 to $72,654.40 depending on experience, based on working 40 hours per week.
