Cost Accounting Manager (Manufacturing)

The Cost Accounting Manager will perform regular analysis on all production related activities to provide insight to the Senior Leadership team. They will be tasked with mining financial data and generating reports for department heads to help understand trends and optimize profitability. The cost accountant will analyze potential deployment of new production equipment and changes in costs against anticipated projected results, and new product offerings. Long term, this position will build out a team to handle multiple operation sites across several states.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Review supply chain and materials pricing, labor costs, shipping discounts and quarterly sales records for each department of the corporation;
• Support costing setup, updates, and reporting;
• Analyze standard and overhead allocation costs for reasonableness and provide recommendations for periodic updates to costing structure;
• Compare standard costs to actual costs and investigate variances;
• Recommend opportunities to reduce cost and maximize profit;
• Maintain cost accounting systems;
• Conduct margin analysis;
• Assist in month end close activities (Journal Entries, Variance Analysis, Account Reconciliations, & Inventory/COGS explanations);
• Provide leadership for conducting monthly physical inventory procedures and perform reconciliation procedures;
• Work with Finance and Production teams to set Budget/Forecast production costs/goals;
• Ad Hoc reporting

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (BA, BS) and 5+ Years of experience in a manufacturing or other cost accounting environment. ERP systems experience required
• MBA/CPA/CMA preferred
• Needs to have strong Microsoft Excel Skills
