The Designer actively participates in designing monthly collections and mentors team members to ensure that designs and resulting product are appropriate for the Free People Customer. we design for the Free Spirit: smart, creative, confident and comfortable in all aspects of her being, free and adventurous, sweet to tough to tomboy to romantic.
The Designer also will oversee and mentor junior… team members.
Design, creation, development, and execution of own brand product appropriate for Free People category with a focus bringing a feminine hand to jackets and outerwear
Respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.
Support seasonal development calendar for both Retail & Wholesale deliveries.
Manage development and execution of all design packages alongside Assistant Designer and participate in all follow-up communication related to each package in partnership with the Design Coordinator & Product Development team.
Strong initiative and point of view on design research and staying up to date with industry trend direction, color direction, and fabric innovations that can relate to the Free People target customer.
Execute original design ideas through sketching, draped & sewn mocks and/or Ai to communicate designs vision in key meetings.
Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design or a closely related field and 5+ Years related experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of the Free People aesthetic, brand position and customer.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with partners in Merchandising, Production, and oversees vendors.
Ability to recognize and accurately forecast fashion and cultural trends as they relate to the Free People target customer.
Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.
Ability to sketch or to communicate design ideas via computer program, sewing, mocking and draping. Expertise in Adobe creative Suite.
Ability to live within a commutable distance and work on-site 4-5 days per week at our Home Office in Philadelphia, PA required
Some travel may be required.
