Private Equity Fund Accountant

We are currently seeking an experienced Private Equity Fund Accountant with over 10 years of experience in managing accounting functions related to private equity funds. This role will require a strong understanding of fund structures, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance within the private equity sector. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial statements, overseeing capital call processes, investor reporting, and liaising with auditors and other stakeholders.

This is a 6+ month contract opportunity, paying up to $85/hour.

Key Responsibilities:
• Fund Accounting: Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and manage the accounting process for multiple private equity funds.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.
• Capital Calls & Distributions: Oversee the capital call and distribution process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Valuation: Work with the investment team and external valuation experts to ensure proper valuation of portfolio assets.
• Investor Relations: Prepare investor capital account statements, and assist with investor queries, providing them with timely and accurate financial information.
• Compliance & Tax: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and fund documentation. Work closely with tax professionals on fund tax matters.
• Audits: Coordinate with external auditors, preparing necessary documentation and financial information to facilitate smooth and timely audits.
• Process Improvement: Lead process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the fund accounting function.
• Team Leadership: Mentor junior fund accountants and assist in their professional development.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in private equity fund accounting, or within a similar alternative investment environment.
• Strong knowledge of private equity fund structures, including limited partnerships, SPVs, and other investment vehicles.
• Expertise in US GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
• Proficiency in fund accounting software (e.g., Investran, eFront, Yardi, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple funds and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with large institutional investors and complex fund structures.
• Knowledge of carried interest calculations and waterfall models.
• Familiarity with SEC and other regulatory bodies’ requirements for private equity funds.
• Experience with fund migrations and system integrations.
