Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and creative Content Writer to develop engaging and educational financial literacy lessons for young adults, ages 13-18, to be featured on our digital learning platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of personal finance topics and the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, engaging, and age-appropriate content. You will create interactive lessons that resonate with young learners and equip them with essential financial skills for the future.
This role is perfect for a freelance writer who has experience developing financial literacy content for young audiences, including teenagers and their parents.
This role is for an hourly contractor that can transition to full-time employment. We may consider full-time employment from the start in unique situations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop Financial Literacy Content: Write, design, and structure engaging lessons covering key financial literacy… topics that may be related to baby bonds, behavioral economics, budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, credit, and financial planning.
• Create Interactive and Age-Appropriate Lessons: Design content that is relevant and accessible to young adults, ensuring lessons are tailored to their interests and needs, using language and examples they can relate to.
• Incorporate Real-World Scenarios: Write lessons that include practical, real-world examples and financial simulations to enhance understanding and make content applicable to students’ lives.
• Collaborate with Instructional Designers: If and where necessary, work closely with a team of instructional designers to ensure the lessons are engaging, interactive, and aligned with educational best practices for digital platforms.
• Ensure Alignment with Standards: Ensure that all content aligns with national and state financial literacy standards, as well as any specific curriculum frameworks.
• Review and Revise Content: Continuously refine and improve content based on feedback from the Money Bird team and partners.
• Stay Informed on Financial Trends: Keep up-to-date with the latest personal finance trends and educational practices to ensure content remains current and impactful.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Finance, English, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience in Writing Educational Content for young adults, preferably in personal finance or a related subject.
• Strong understanding of financial literacy concepts and the ability to explain them in simple, engaging ways.
• Experience working with digital learning platforms or educational technology is a plus.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt writing style to suit the needs and interests of young adults.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality educational materials.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in financial education or working in the financial services industry.
• Familiarity with curriculum development or instructional design for digital platforms.
• Knowledge of national and state financial literacy standards.
