PRIMARY FUNCTION/
PURPOSE:
The paid Research Intern will support the Center for Applied Research and Learning position will be expected to work 8-12 hours/week (fluctuating basis). The Research Intern will support the maintenance of the Election Guide website and database under the direction of Center staff. This internship will be conducted remotely, though opportunities to conduct in-person work at the IFES’ office may be available.
More specifically, the research intern will:
Clean and input data into an online database and perform quality control;
Draft narrative content for upcoming elections;
Assist with election tracking and data verification efforts via web searches and media monitoring;
Analyze and summarize data for presentations and data visualization, as needed;
Other research duties as assigned by the Center team.
Qualifications:
Advanced undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited college/university, or recently graduated no more than a year at time of application;
Data collection and management experience;
Research experience (multimethod research a plus);
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and file management platforms (Dropbox, Google Drive);
Knowledge of and/or strong interest in elections and political processes is a plus;
Familiarity with data visualization (Power BI, Tableau, Google Looker Studio) and/or data analysis (R, Stata, SPSS, Dedoose) platforms a plus; and
Foreign language skills (especially Arabic, Russian, French, Spanish) a plus.
