McKinley Marketing Partners, a 24 Seven Company, is looking for a medicare writer for our nonprofit client in DC. The Medicare Writer will update and help create high-quality content for all digital platforms.
This is a long-term, on-going (18+ months), W2, 40-hour-a-week contract. All McKinley roles include a competitive benefits package.
Responsibilities
• Focus on key issues in the organization’s priority areas including Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance, health care, and other topics
• Develop creative approaches to stories in conjunction with the Medicare editor
• Partner with Medicare editors and copy editors to streamline stories, answer questions, and determine coverage gaps in online content
• Work with the executive editor to review relevant material from other departments, shape coverage, and solve problems
• Learn how to use Content Production System and other relevant software to get stories ready for production
• Annotate stories thoroughly so researchers can check the facts with minimal additional digging and upload transcripts of interviews
• Conceptualize illustrations with digital designers for stories and Q&As
• Discover relevant statistics from reputable, primary sources when available that can be transformed into charts, maps, tables, and other graphics
• Consult frequently with our search engine optimization team to help shape the scope of stories so they’ll be discoverable in organic search
• Gain knowledge of the organization’s inventory of Medicare stories to help with inline linking and prevent duplication of topics that would hurt SEO
• Write preliminary headlines and budget lines using SEO skills and keep our various content schedules and inventories updated
• Appear in videos, on TV and radio, and in seminars to explain and discuss Medicare and other topics
• Collaborate with others across the organization and participate in meetings
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or writing/editing fields
• 5+ years of writing experience
• Experience writing content directly related to Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance, and health care
