About this position:
We are seeking a skilled SQL Server & Oracle Database Administrator with expertise in designing, optimizing, migrating, and maintaining both SQL Server (supporting ASP.NET web applications) and Oracle (supporting Java-based applications) databases. This role will play a key part in migrating our databases and applications to AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability across both platforms.
Salary Range: 90k-115k – commensurate with candidate’s skills, experience, location, and qualifications.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
• Design and develop SQL Server database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures for ASP.NET web applications.
• Design and maintain Oracle database schemas and PL/SQL procedures for Java applications.
• Migrate SQL Server and Oracle databases to AWS Cloud Infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to application performance.
• Optimize database performance through query optimization, indexing strategies, and database tuning for both SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Implement data models and database architectures to meet application requirements and performance goals.
• Collaborate closely with software developers to integrate database functionality into ASP.NET and Java applications.
• Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions for SQL Server, as well as PL/SQL for Oracle.
• Conduct database testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure data integrity and reliability across both platforms.
• Implement and enforce database security policies and best practices to protect sensitive data.
• Stay abreast of new SQL Server, Oracle, and AWS cloud features, tools, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
Required Education/Qualifications:
• Clearance: MUST be fully adjudicated & maintain a Top Secret security clearance or higher.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Certifications: Security+ CE Certified.
• Proven experience as a SQL Server and Oracle Database Administrator, working with both ASP.NET and Java applications.
• Strong proficiency in SQL Server and Oracle database development, including T-SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience with AWS cloud migration and infrastructure, including experience with cloud-native database solutions.
• Solid understanding of database design principles, normalization, and relational database concepts.
• Experience with database tools and utilities for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with version control systems and agile software development practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and PL/SQL.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Shell scripting for automating routine database tasks and cloud migration activities.
• Knowledge of previous experience working with DoD systems and security requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.
• AWS certifications and Microsoft SQL Server certification are a plus.
