Brooksource is seeking a highly skilled and experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) for a 12-month contract, with a focus on maintaining a large-scale DB2 infrastructure. The role requires managing over 3,000 databases in a high-demand, escalated client environment that operates 24/7. The DBA will ensure seamless operational efficiency, data integrity, and optimal performance while supporting DB2 Data Warehouse and DB2 Connect services. The objective is to deliver exceptional service, maintain database availability, and resolve critical incidents in a timely manner, while supporting global delivery centers across the world.

Required Skills:

Technical Expertise:
• Extensive experience with DB2 databases, including DB2 Data Warehouse and DB2 Connect.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience in managing DB2 operations in Linux, Windows, and Unix environments.
• Strong knowledge of database clustering, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during escalated P1 and P2 incidents in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 backup, recovery, database migration, and security practices.

Domain Expertise:
• Previous experience in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, retail, and insurance.
• Familiarity with large-scale environments managing over 3,000 databases.
• Knowledge of global operations and distributed environments, with previous experience supporting multiple locations
• Ability to handle 24/7 operational support and adapt to a demanding client environment.
• Excellent communication skills to manage escalations and interact with global stakeholders.

Day-to-Day Activities:

Database Management:
• Monitor and manage a large-scale DB2 environment, ensuring uptime and availability for over 3,000 databases.
• Perform regular database backups, recovery tests, and migration tasks to maintain data integrity and security.
• Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of database environments.

Incident Management:
• Respond to escalated P1 and P2 incidents, providing timely resolutions to critical issues.
• Perform root cause analysis on database failures and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
• Coordinate with global delivery centers to provide support across different time zones.

Operational Support:
• Ensure 24/7 availability of DB2 databases, handling operational tasks and incidents round-the-clock.
• Support DB2 Data Warehouse and DB2 Connect services to ensure seamless integration and data flow.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement database changes, patches, and upgrades.

Client & Stakeholder Management:
• Manage communications with high-demand clients in escalated environments, ensuring their requirements are met.
• Provide regular updates on the health of the database environment, performance metrics, and incident reports.
