The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of the Consular Affairs (CA/CST) globally distributed Oracle and Exadata database system supporting nearly 250 Consulates. As a DBA, job duties include ensuring that the database server, application and access security is up to date, ensure routine back-ups are being performed, and designing and implementing tests of the system to address issues with accessing data in an optimal manner.
Database Administrator should possess certification and experience in GoldenGate (21c or other late edition) technology as standalone or a managed cloud service within OCI providing a reliable real-time data mesh replication platform and make data highly available. DBA must be able to modify design, execute, and monitor CA/CST’s data replication and stream data processing customer requirements with minimal need for additional compute resources.
Qualifications needed include a bachelor’s degree in information systems or computer science and several years of experience working with databases. Other qualities include strong analytical problem-solving skills and a careful eye for detail

Requirements and qualifications:
• 3-5 years’ collective and progressive experience with Oracle, OCI, Golden Gate in medium to large enterprise
• Lifecycle exposure from concept to design to support.
• Strong background in Oracle technologies
• Recent certifications in Oracle Database Certified Professional or Master, RAC, High Availability, specialization in Exadata, OCI a plus
• Sense of ownership in company’s success, critical thinker, problem-solving skills and team player.
• Good time-management skills and requires limited direction.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills. Takes initiative and can work independently with a moderate level of guidance.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Database Administrator utilizes past, current and emergent technical design patterns to create a blueprint for solving complex business problems.
• DBA understands the marketplace for solutions in the Oracle, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Golden Gate, Data Guard technologies and is able to apply them to common business problems that are the best-fit for CA/CST.
• DBA helps critique, redefine and evolve the customer’s data replication architecture based on a scientific analysis of customer support calls, operational data and technical debt within the system.
• DBA must collaborate with other architects, vendors and customer SMEs to reach productive outcomes.
• Adhere to Federal. State Department, IRM and CA architecture standards and be able to defend and expound replication architecture decisions to the Architecture Review Board (ARB), Change Control Board (CCB) and other governance bodies.
• Brief leadership on architecture and operational limitations and workaround of replication architecture
• Occasional short travel trips as required by customer.
• Bachelor level degree in engineering or any other technical discipline a plus; Master’s degree a plus.
