Job description
Possibly the “Coolest” Casual Code Coach Job Ever!
How ‘bout we cut straight to the deal? Our small business is located in Greta, NSW. We are biased — but we are pretty sure we are the coolest place to work for, ever. And we really believe that we are changing the Tutoring and Education World (you will see what we mean when you check out our website!). Honestly, the job is not all roses and puppy dogs — there is some good news and there is some bad news. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first:
The pay sucks, meaning, you won’t become a millionaire at iCode School. The pay is between $30-$34/ PH, you will have some extra spending money for sure, however if you are seeking a job to support a yacht sailing, world travelling, mansion buying lifestyle this no longer the ”coolest” management job ever, it is now the “suckiest” part time management job ever. Review point 1.
THE GOOD STUFF
Now let’s talk about the good stuff: 1. Our office is based in Greta just… 45minutes from Newcastle CBD. Just think of the amazing country drive to work everyday. Think of the wind down time on your way home from work – yeah, that’s right, basically free uninterrupted alone time on your drive, daily…! Okay, so that part is maybe not the greatest, but there are some (truly) great things…
2. The work is fun, fresh and dynamic. You will be working directly for our Owner, Megan, and helping her with a mix of projects and supporting our children and young people from Go to Woah. We cover a range of Tutoring to Coding, Photography, Animation and Video Editing and a heap of other fun stuff. You won’t have to worry about pesky franchised tutoring centres and boring content! We just want you to help our clients, children and young people out with getting to know them, what they need and ensuring their experience with us is smooth, easy and most importantly fun!
3. We aren’t big on stress. We just want the children and young people coming in to have fun and learn some cool things along the way and build some solid relationships
4. It is casual, but we will give you some classes that are predictable and belong to you.. We do work after school hours and on Saturdays so just think you have all day, everyday to do your own things.
HOW WE WORK!
5. You will experience things, do things, and make decisions on things that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do. You will be able to give input and design the work that you do, in your favoured areas. We want you to bring new fresh and exciting ideas to share.
6. After a year here, (or less if you do amazing) you get regular pay reviews ( Chaching-ga!!! ) and take a share in the awesome benefits! Hellz yeah, you read that right!!! All of our team access some cool benefits, lets not give too much away, but how would you like your birthday off?
7. We are a small social group that love a good catch up, a meal and a few drinks, we try and get together and do something fun. You don’t need to be skilled at roller skating, laser tag or bowling, but you will likely engage in social activities.
THE SERIOUS STUFF LOL
Now, let’s talk about the job requirements: 1. You need to be the type person who gets joy out of getting things done, correctly. Every day, you will bang out your jobs, make our clients stoked with your work and rave about you. You will do fun stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff. 2. You will be spending alot of your time teaching and chatting with our awesome students and their network. So, an understanding of social expectations, outstanding communication, patience and technology skills including and apps, and other computer-based stuff will be necessary. 3. Teaching and learning is the key. You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences to other people. So, you need to enjoying talking with people, giving/getting directions, sharing your advice and giving your 2 cents worth. 4. You know, you need to be someone who feels good by making other people feel good. 5. You need to nail down the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half-assed (we figured that one out ourselves). We need you to slow things down and get them done right. 6. We want you to be meticulous in your work. If you are quiet (which actually sounds great) that is totally cool. We are not looking for the life of the party…in fact, quite the opposite. We are looking for a good, fun person, who can relate to our students and teach them some awesome skills.
In short, your job is to help Megan and the iCode family in any way you can. And to have fun at work (who wants a job that isn’t fun?!?). Our office is casual, but we do expect professionalism, punctuality and to be a go getter! Our studios will need feature you most of the time, our team works in the classrooms so don’t expect a raving office, all the fun happens in the classrooms and we would love for you to get involved in the fun there!
But what we don’t expect is your existing skills to be perfect for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you that. We expect, A love of coding and a passion for working with children, A natural knack in engaging an audience, Patience to work with active inquiring minds, the ability to break down complex problems into smaller digestible pieces, this ability to be flexible and adaptable to the various needs of children

In fact, just to prove that you are detail oriented and can follow procedures, when you apply for this position in the subject line of the email you must include “I have found my type of peeps” in the subject line. Yep, that’s our little trick to sort out the people who blanket send their resume to anyone and everyone, from the folks (that’s you) who are truly interested in this position. We are looking to bring our new colleague on board as soon as possible, but we will spend the necessary time to find the best fit both in abilities and culturally.

This is purely for us to get a sense of getting to know who you are!!! Send to [email protected] And if you decide not to send a video that’s ok (who likes the sound of their own voice anyway) chuck why you are perfect in your cover page!
We can’t wait to meet you!!!
