Private Equity Business Development Manager

Role Summary:

A major objective of the Centralized Private Equity Team is to strengthen T. Rowe Price’s position in the increasingly competitive marketplace for private company investments. A key area of opportunity for achieving this objective is an organized, focused and consistent calling effort and relationship management program in the private company investing ecosystem. Our standing as a desired partner to private companies also can be enhanced by providing existing and prospective private portfolio companies with access to T. Rowe Price’s vast resources to assist these companies in areas that can have significant impact on their long-term success. This individual must have a strong understanding of the venture capital backed private company ecosystem and keep abreast of evolving industry trends. The ability to establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships is essential.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Business Development/Relationship Management
• Support senior team members in organized VC/PE firm calling effort, private company tracking and prioritization and monitoring of industry trends
• Assist team members with identification of target private companies as prospective investments based on screening for various factors
• Maintain detailed records of interactions with VC and PE firms and ensure timely follow up with their portfolio companies
• Prepare prep memos for all meetings with private companies and their sponsors
• Track all financing transactions and private investing industry developments for the team
• Track and occasionally participate in dedicated private company/VC events

Value-Add Services:

Lead and coordinate all efforts pertaining to the relationship and business development with private companies to include services such as:
• IPO preparation
• Introductions to potential customers and business partners, especially internal TRP functions
• Occasional event days or webinars on timely topics
• Coordinate internal TRP capabilities to deliver to companies where appropriate

Establish and maintain roster of pre-qualified executive and director candidates for potential referral.

Additional Responsibilities
• Assist with certain activities pertaining to the operation of CPET such as investment performance tracking, database management, capital markets, etc.
• Other bespoke VC industry related analysis

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree AND 8+ years directly related experience required

Familiarity with and passion for the private markets

Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills

Ability to build and maintain both internal and external relationships

Business development, relationship management and team leadership experience

Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task

Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and sound judgement

Ability to work in an unstructured environment and generate new ideas

Willingness to take on a wide variety of assignments and an interest in constant learning

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree and/or MBA from a widely recognized institution

Knowledge of T. Rowe Price

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to one day a week.

Base salary range:

$ 175,000 – 275,000 USD
