As the Senior Technical/Cloud Technology Proofreader, you will have a tremendous impact on the team and the value we bring to our clients. You are responsible for reviewing and editing all content for one of our large B2B cloud technology clients to ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy. You will provide edits and corrections to ensure the content adheres to rules within the client’s 287-page Brand Guidelines.
This is a contract position with varying hours each week, from 2 to 20+. You will be expected to check in each morning to confirm what will be needed for that day and by when, using tools such as Slack and Teamwork.com. We will provide a company laptop and access to M365 in accordance with our client’s security measures.
Responsibilities:
• Read content and correct any errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Check copy for readability and style, and ensure that it conforms with the client’s editorial policies
• Suggest revisions to copy, including editing, changing, and rearranging copy and content to improve clarity or accuracy
• Carry out research, confirm sources for writers, and verify facts, dates, and statistics using standard reference sources
• Collaborate with writers to ensure their ideas and stories succeed, while being mindful of the audience
• Ensure all client-facing communications are error-free and consistent with Catalyst’s and client’s standards
• Approve final versions of updated materials submitted by staff
• Learn and maintain a Catalyst internal style guide that includes brand, style, legal, and regulatory guidelines/requirements for this client
• Work with individual requestors—both on writing and account teams—-to resolve questions or content disputes and understand any exceptions to standard grammar and punctuation
Qualifications:
• 6+ years of editing and proofreading experience with a demonstrated cloud background working with assets from short-form content, including emails, social copy, etc., to long-form technical white papers for audiences ranging from general users to technical practitioners to C-level executives
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple competing priorities at once
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A creative problem solver who can jolt our organization’s and client’s creativity
• A mastery of the English language and of the written word
• A strong eye for detail and accuracy to ensure every comma is in place, every word is spelled correctly, spacing and formatting is consistent, etc.
• Ability to multitask and work independently
• A propensity for tact and diplomacy when negotiating edits with writers
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
Location:
• This is a remote contract position that can be performed anywhere in the US, preferably in the Mountain Time Zone
Salary Range:
• Hourly, depending on location and commensurate with experience, skills, education, and/or training
