As our Wine Operations Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of operations that support our mission to provide outstanding wines at fair prices.

Your leadership will help manage the logistics of wine production, from vineyard management to bottle delivery, ensuring our Angels receive the best wines possible. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in a vibrant, entrepreneurial culture.

Your Purpose:

You will oversee the day-to-day operations related to wine production, quality control, and supply chain management. Your efforts will ensure that our products meet Naked Wines’ high standards, delighting our customers and supporting our winemakers. This will be a 9 month Maternity Leave contract with a preferred start date of February 2025.

The essence of this role is communication with and support for our Winemakers and the administration of wine operations. This role reports directly into the Head of Wine.

Supplier communication and Operations
• Day to day relationships with winemakers, supporting on winemaker portal & enablers. Be the main point of day to day contact for the winemakers for queries and system support
• Assisting Winemaker’s with ongoing queries around purchase orders, samples, delivery changes.
• Managing Wine Production schedule; Confirming bottling schedules, following up samples for tasting and photography, following up product files for system sign off. Sending sample approval & volume approval to winemakers to pass onto ops for shipment
• PO ReApprovals/Approvals in Global; Weekly session with MD in explaining reasoning behind reapprovals requested to ensure PO is moved to approval status for payment to supplier in time
• Work cross functionally internally to make sure everyone is informed about key winemaker and product updates
• New Wine Notifications; Weekly (or as required) templated email to winemakers outlining new wine going live date to encourage posting to Angels on Wall and socials about the release
• Co Marketing program: Monthly creation, reporting, contacting on program requirements to winemakers to ensure PO is moved to approval status for payment to supplier in time
• Management of Winemaker Help Desk: Help Hub by keeping it up to date with SOPs, contact and team information

QA Process Support, Wine Time and other wine projects
• QA Tasting support: Sorting samples, filling WQB&T, sending approvals.
• Ordering secondary QA Wines (Low BIA) sorting and scheduling for head of wine
• Assist Head of Wine in creating Fine Wine Club Packs & Christmas Collection
• Selection of Wines/Winemakers for annual tasting tour and main point of communication to Winemakers. Supporting team in organisation of the tour
• Wine Time: Scheduling, ordering, set up, running and post wine time quiz

Internal Stakeholders
• Reporting directly to the Head of Wine, this role provides a support function.
• Working closely with Wine Planning/Logistics to ensure efficient flow of product
• Working closely with the Merchandising and Marketing team to enable timely promotions of wine and winemakers.

Strong commercial / analytical skills
• Analyse pricing benchmarks and create reporting
• Prepare for, participate in and document commercial agreements and conversations.
• Manages Wine Tender processes
• Work across the winemaker portfolio to unlock collective buying opportunities & guide winemakers along the journey
• Engage winemakers bi-annually to review portfolio performance, flag risks and provide best practice recommendations
• Supports the Annual Buy Plan Administration
• Able to implement and optimise processes

Wine Industry Experience regarded
• Passionate about wine
• WSET 2 minimum or relevant wine QA experience
• Confident in industry / relationships / knowledge – local Australian wine- buying (and growers)
• Knows industry well enough to be credible, confident BUT open to looking at new ways & more collaborative approaches.
