Location
This role is available as a designated homeworking role. Please note, some travel will be required. Travel to Ryton will be required on a frequent basis to deliver the CSDRA course. This would equate to 70% of the FTE.

Job description
The Specialist Trainer role is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of training programmes, supervising students to ensure that learning objectives are met to course specifications and agreed quality standards. Work with other College departments to provide subject matter expertise in the formulation of evidence-based policing standards and the design and development of learning products. This role holder must be a subject matter expert in relation to their field, in this case Core Skills in Data Recovery and Analysis (CSDRA). This specialist course requires two full time trainers to deliver the course. This is due to the technical nature of the teaching along with the continuous assessment required of the delegates.
This post aims for 70% delivery & 30% development which equates to 31.5 and 13.5 weeks respectively. The Digital & Cyber Technical Skills team contribute to the design, development & maintenance of courses in addition to national projects with the Faculties & NPCC groups. The CSDRA course is 10 days (2 x weeks of Mon – Fri), of which there are 10 courses per year. The role of the trainer is to equip all delegates with the core skills necessary to undertake, investigate & prosecute offences involving a digital & cyber-crime element. These courses directly impact on frontline officers and staff enabling them to be deployed on professional investigations in the fight against major crime, counter terrorism and serious and organised crime which ultimately support the policing objective to enhance public safety.
This post requires a competent staff member in this specialist field, in line with national standards. It is essential that the successful applicant has an in depth & current understanding of the specialist CSDRA, ideally supported by a Level 4 training qualification.
Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Deliver training programmes to agreed content & assessment specifications. Develop & adapt teaching techniques, lesson plans, scenarios and training materials to meet individual students’ learning needs to ensure that all students receive a consistent, high quality training intervention
• Research and refresh own subject matter expertise and trainer skills and work with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge, help identify innovative solutions and draft and develop evidence-based policing standards, guidance and associated curriculum specifications and learning interventions to support the promotion and embedding of consistent approaches to professional practice across policing.
• Review and revise training packages to address changes to the curriculum, professional practice, guidance, standards and/or feedback from quality assurance data trends, ensuring an inclusive and psychologically safe learning environment. Maintain version control log to ensure that learning programmes are always accurate, up-to-date, and inclusive, and that definitive records of revisions are maintained.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
• Level 5/6 qualification or equivalent or practical experience of working in this specialist field to the required level, or equivalent experience
• Qualified Trainer to meet the Police Sector Standard for Trainers through either a Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development, a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent or through the College of Policing Training Essentials Programme or be willing to achieve the Level 4 diploma within 18 months
• Experienced and current Assessor competent to the Police Sector Standard for the Training of Assessors or be prepared to achieve an assessor standard within 12 months if applicable to the role
• Evidence of ongoing commitment to continuing professional development
