Give to Africa is a San Diego–based 501(c)(3) building technology-forward philanthropic infrastructure for Africa. Our work sits at the intersection of philanthropy, technology, and innovation. Through YENDAA—the only digital marketplace for verified African-led causes—and programs in climate resilience, fiscal sponsorship, and education, we connect donors to vetted, community-led impact.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Managing Director to lead our brand, digital growth, and partnerships. You’ll own how Give to Africa shows up to the world—and how we turn attention into committed donors and partners. This is a hands-on leadership role: you set the strategy and you execute it, from the words on the page to the relationships that grow our reach.

What You’ll Do

• Own brand strategy and identity across Give to Africa and YENDAA

• Lead digital marketing: SEO, social media management, content, and email

• Write compelling copy across channels—appeals, campaigns, web, and donor communications

• Design and optimize the online donor journey to grow first-time and recurring giving

• Build and steward partnerships with foundations, corporates, and mission-aligned organizations

• Grow our live-streaming presence on LinkedIn and Instagram Live

• Track and report on growth: traffic, conversion, donor acquisition and retention

What We’re Looking For

• Nonprofit experience with a proven track record of building a brand from the ground up

• Strong digital marketing skills: SEO, social media, content, and campaigns

• Excellent, persuasive writing—you can move people to give

• Demonstrated success converting online audiences into donors

• Partnership and business development experience

• Cultural fluency and genuine commitment to African-led development; connection to African or diaspora communities a strong plus

• Self-directed, able to own both strategy and execution

Qualifications

• 5+ years in nonprofit marketing, communications, or brand

• Demonstrated brand-building experience

• Digital marketing and SEO proficiency

• Strong writing and content portfolio

Compensation & Commitment

This is a volunteer leadership role. Give to Africa is an all-volunteer team—we have not yet raised funds for salaries. We offer a quarterly stipend in recognition of your contribution. We’re looking for someone genuinely seeking purpose-driven volunteer work with a predictable, reliable time commitment—not paid full-time employment. This may be an ideal fit if you are retired, between roles, or a graduate student (Master’s/PhD) able to commit consistent weekly hours.
