Job Summary
We are seeking a Lead Mainframe Developer with 11+ years of experience in designing, developing, and supporting large-scale enterprise Mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, IMS, IBM z/OS, and batch processing. The candidate should be capable of leading development teams, driving technical solutions, mentoring developers, and working directly with business stakeholders.
Required Skills
• 11+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe Development
• Expert in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and IMS DB/DC
• Strong experience with IBM z/OS, TSO/ISPF
• Expertise in SQL and DB2 performance tuning
• Experience with Endevor, Changeman, File-AID, Expeditor, and Abend-AID
• Strong knowledge of Batch Processing and Online Transaction Processing
• Experience in Mainframe modernization and application enhancements
• Hands-on experience with MQ Series and RACF
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support experience
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise Mainframe applications.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor development teams.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop and optimize applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and IMS.
• Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Optimize application performance and improve system reliability.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, business analysts, QA, and project managers.
• Support production deployments, release management, and post-production activities.
• Drive Mainframe modernization initiatives and integration with distributed applications.
Preferred Skills
• Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Healthcare domain experience
• Experience with Mainframe APIs, REST services, and Java integration
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and automated deployments
• Knowledge of cloud integration and Mainframe modernization strategies
• IBM Mainframe certifications are a plus
