Gurnick Academy is a leading Bay Area private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of Nursing, Allied healthcare, and Imaging programs.

Gurnick Academy is currently seeking a Full-time, Financial Aid Advisor, Originations and Disbursements. This is an Online/Remote position for Gurnick Academy Corporate Office. (The pay is dependent on the region in the United States) The Job Duties for the FA Advisor will focus on overall assistance with the Financial Aid Department.

Basic Function

The Financial Aid Advisor for Originations and Disbursements is responsible for originating, disbursing, and reconciling federal, state, institutional financial aid in compliance with Title IV regulations, institutional policies, and applicable federal and state guidelines. This position ensures the accurate and timely processing of financial aid funds while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and providing exceptional support to internal departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Originate and disburse federal Direct Loans, Pell Grants, and other Title IV and state aid.

• Review student eligibility prior to disbursement, ensuring all required documentation has been received and eligibility requirements have been met.

• Process financial aid adjustments, cancellations, and reinstatements as needed.

• Resolve Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) rejects and discrepancies.

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of financial aid records with COD and institutional systems.

• Monitor pending disbursements and ensure funds are released accurately and within required deadlines.

• Review enrollment changes and determine the impact on financial aid eligibility and disbursements.

• Process Return of Title IV (R2T4) adjustments and post-withdrawal disbursements when applicable.

• Review student accounts to ensure accurate posting of financial aid awards and refunds.

• Coordinate with Accounting and Financial Aid staff to resolve funding discrepancies.

• Maintain accurate documentation of all financial aid transactions.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and institutional regulations.

• Assist with internal and external financial aid audits.

• Participate in quality assurance reviews to identify processing errors and recommend corrective actions.

• Maintain current knowledge of federal financial aid regulations through ongoing training and professional development.

• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience; bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of financial aid processing experience, preferably with originations and disbursements.

• Working knowledge of Title IV federal financial aid regulations.
