The R&D Tax Credit is one of the largest tax incentive programs in the country, offering companies a credit for their investment in innovations in technology and design. As an industry leader in R&D Tax Credits, we serve a national client base in a wide range of industries, including software development, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, architecture & engineering, and many more.
We are currently looking for a new Tax Associate to join our R&D Tax Credit processing team. The primary role of this position is to manage, input, evaluate, and process the client information necessary to calculate their R&D Tax Credit benefits. This job offers the opportunity to learn about and interact with a diverse client base, developing experience with a wide variety of company structures, industries, and accounting systems as well as a unique skillset within the field of finance and accounting.
The selected candidate will work closely with a small project team under a Senior Associate and Manager, working on select R&D projects from start to finish while maintaining client relationships and delivering exceptional work. We strongly encourage the rapid development and advancement of qualified employees, offering opportunities for promotion to management in a little as five years. Due to the nature of the work, this job will require overtime and occasional weekend hours during the tax season.

Responsibilities
– Play a key role in calculating and maximizing R&D tax credit across various industries such as architecture, engineering, construction, and software
– Validate project accounting data using verification tests and present the results to appropriate personnel
– Perform data analysis, cleanup, and modeling using Excel, VBA, Python, or other automation tools is a plus.
– Interpret R&D tax credit qualification criteria to project accounting data
– Analyze yearly R&D tax credit models to identify and present underlying indicators
Daily Tasks
– Coordinate with senior data analysts and team management to assist in calculations and track study status
– Coordinate with processing teams to confirm any necessary or supplementary information to maximize R&D tax credit
– Coordinate with in-house engineers to discuss and follow up with the clients’ project managers on specific project/phase/task details
– Coordinate with in-house attorneys to clarify and adjust activity qualifications for contract modifications and change orders
– Review engineering documentation, project contracts, and accounting records to support R&D qualification.
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in related field: Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, etc.
– Experience working in an accounting firm preferred but not required
– Proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications preferred
– Exceptional interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills
– Exceptional precision, detail-oriented, and time management skills
– Ability to work long hours during tax seasons
