Accounting Consultant (IC4 Level)

Responsibilities

Kforce’s client in Ithaca, NY is seeking an Accounting Consultant (IC4 Level). Summary: We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant (IC4) to join our Corporate Accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities, with a primary focus on compensation-related accounting. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, analytical skills, and experience working in a complex corporate environment. This position will collaborate across multiple business functions and may also support broader Corporate Accounting initiatives based on business needs. Key Responsibilities:

• Support monthly and quarterly close processes for compensation-related accounts
• Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting deliverables
• Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards
• Prepare and review account reconciliations
• Analyze account activity and investigate variances
• Perform fluctuation and trend analysis to identify unusual transactions or balances
• Provide clear explanations for quarterly changes in account balances
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and reporting issues
• Collaborate with Payroll, Human Resources, FP&A, Equity Administration, and other Finance teams
• Gather and validate information needed to support accounting entries and financial reporting
• Assist in resolving accounting questions and ensuring accurate financial data
• Contribute to special projects and broader Corporate Accounting initiatives as needed
• Support financial statement preparation and disclosure activities
• Assist with consolidations, operating expense accounting, and other close-related processes
• Participate in process improvement and documentation efforts

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles
• Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities
• Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
• Background in a public company or similarly complex corporate accounting environment
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
• Ability to identify, investigate, and explain account fluctuations
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification or active CPA candidate
• Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems
• Experience supporting financial reporting, disclosures, or consolidations
• Prior consulting or project-based accounting experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
