Salary: £65,000 – £85,000 base salary plus discretionary bonus (salary varies per location)

About the Company

Our client is one of the world’s fastest growing technology companies, having achieved unicorn status, operating across 40+ countries and having scaled to over 3,000 employees worldwide. As the business continues to expand internationally, this newly created greenfield position will play a key role in building out the global payroll accounting function, strengthening controls and establishing scalable processes to support continued growth. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the role from the ground up, partnering closely with finance, payroll and wider business stakeholders to implement best-in-class ways of working across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
• Own the preparation of month-end and quarter-end close activities, including close calendars, checklists and reconciliations, while supporting the accounting team in presenting monthly and quarterly flux analysis to management.
• Assume end-to-end responsibility for payroll accounting activities, covering processing, reconciliations, compliance requirements and reporting outputs.
• Develop and embed effective accounting procedures, internal controls and compliance frameworks aligned with relevant accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Lead initiatives to improve and scale accounting processes, with an emphasis on automation, operational efficiency and supporting the company’s continued growth.
• Build and maintain strong technical accounting knowledge across payroll accounting, compliance, process design and control environments.
• Prepare detailed accounting policies using US GAAP technical guidance, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure practical and consistent application.
• Identify opportunities to enhance existing accounting processes and design practical solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
• Partner with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Required Qualifications

·ACA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

·7+ years’ progressive accounting experience, ideally gained within a complex, international environment.

·Proven experience in a high-growth or start-up environment, with technology sector experience preferred.

·Hands-on experience in payroll accounting, with exposure to NetSuite or comparable ERP systems.

·Excellent analytical capability, communication skills and organizational discipline.

·Experience supporting accounting system implementations, process improvements or automation initiatives.

·Able to combine strategic thinking with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to execution.

·Quick to learn, comfortable operating under pressure and confident partnering with internal and external stakholders.
