Partner, Technical Accounting Advisory

Partner, Technical Accounting Advisory

Location: Remote (US) | Type: Full Time | Experience: 18+ years | Pay: $250K-$350K plus bonus and equity

About the Role

This is a Partner seat with a market to build. You’ll own the most senior client relationships across the Mid-Atlantic life sciences corridor, set the technical position on the accounting questions that keep biotech CFOs up at night, and carry real accountability for what the practice looks like three years from now.

The firm is a national accounting and finance advisory practice that works as the alternative to the Big Four for companies who need technical depth without an audit relationship attached. Nearly everyone here came from Deloitte, EY, KPMG, or PwC. The client roster runs from venture-backed clinical-stage biotechs to publicly traded pharma, device, and diagnostics companies.

The corridor from DC through Maryland, Virginia, and up into Philadelphia is thick with clinical-stage companies, NIH-adjacent spinouts, and newly public device and diagnostics firms. Someone needs to own that market. If you’ve spent years building a life sciences reputation inside a Big Four firm and want the economics and autonomy that come with owning the relationship instead of servicing it, this is that seat.

What You’ll Do
• Advise CFOs, Chief Accounting Officers, Controllers, audit committees, and boards at life sciences companies from Series B through post-IPO
• Set the technical position on the matters that define life sciences accounting: R&D, clinical trial and CRO accruals, CDMO arrangements, collaboration and licensing deals, royalty and milestone structures, IPRD, and revenue recognition at commercial launch
• Lead IPO readiness, reverse mergers, registration statements, and other capital-markets work, including the S-1, 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K deliverables that come with it
• Own engagement economics end to end: scope, staffing, budget, margin, quality, risk
• Originate new work. Partners here build pipeline through their own network, referrals from attorneys, auditors, and investors, and visible presence in the life sciences community
• Sponsor the hard technical calls, review the memoranda and filings that go in front of audit committees, and be the person the team escalates to
• Grow Directors and Senior Managers into the next generation of firm leadership, including recruiting, performance, and succession
• Bring in the firm’s transaction, valuation, tax, technology, data, and risk teams when a client problem is bigger than accounting

Qualifications

Required
• 18+ years across public accounting, accounting advisory, consulting, or senior corporate accounting
• Big Four background (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC) or a comparable large advisory firm
• Substantive technical accounting services experience, meaning the FAAS, CMAAS, Accounting Advisory, or Capital Markets Advisory side of the house rather than pure audit
• A real life sciences track record: biotech, pharma, medical device, diagnostics, or closely comparable clients
• Active CPA license
• Command of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting applied to genuinely ambiguous fact patterns

What Sets You Apart
• A record of originating business: your relationships, your referrals, your proposals won
• Ownership of a client portfolio, industry vertical, or service line with accountability for delivery, staffing, quality, and economics
• Life sciences clients at multiple stages, from clinical-stage and pre-commercial through commercial and public
• Leadership on IPO readiness, public-company readiness, reverse-merger, financing, or acquisition engagements
• A prior seat as Chief Accounting Officer, Controller, or senior finance executive inside a life sciences company
• Standing relationships with life sciences investors, attorneys, auditors, and other referral sources in the Mid-Atlantic
• Working familiarity with Workiva or ActiveDisclosure
• Speaking, publishing, or training you’ve built in the life sciences accounting space

Why Join Us

Partner here means Partner. You aren’t carrying the title while someone else owns the relationship. The firm is structured so the people doing the most senior technical work also own the client and share in the upside, which is why so many Big Four alumni land here and stay.

The Mid-Atlantic life sciences practice is early enough that whoever takes this seat gets to shape it. That is the real offer.
