Part Time Digital Content Writer & SEO Specialist

Location: Remote (Candidates located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or the Hudson Valley region of New York are preferred.)

Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Digital Content Writer & SEO Specialist to create engaging, educational mental health content for Handel Behavioral Health (HBH).
The primary focus of this role is developing one high-quality blog article each week on mental health, behavioral health, wellness, and related topics. Content will be shared with our readership through email newsletters and social media, as well as published on the HBH website. The role also includes optimizing existing service pages to improve their usefulness, search visibility, and ability to connect prospective clients with appropriate services.
This is a collaborative role for an excellent writer who can translate behavioral health expertise into accessible, compelling content for a general audience.
Weekly Expectations
• 1 new blog article per week focused on mental health, behavioral health, wellness, or related topics
• 1 service page optimization per week to improve content, SEO, readability, and client experience
• 1-hour weekly marketing meeting
• 1 30-minute therapist or subject-matter expert interview per week
• Remaining time dedicated to research, editing, WordPress updates, SEO, reporting, and content planning
Primary ResponsibilitiesMental Health Content & Blog Writing
• Research and write one engaging, SEO-optimized mental health or behavioral health article each week.
• Develop content that is educational, approachable, and relevant to the interests and needs of HBH’s readership.
• Collaborate with therapists and other subject-matter experts to develop accurate, meaningful content.
• Publish articles on the HBH WordPress website and submit new content for Google indexing.
Service Page Optimization
• Optimize one HBH service page each week.
• Improve content, keywords, metadata, internal links, readability, and calls to action.
• Make updates directly in WordPress.
Qualifications
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Experience creating digital content, particularly blogs or website content.
• Familiarity with SEO and keyword research.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with WordPress is preferred.
• Healthcare, behavioral health, or mental health writing experience is a plus.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role will be measured by consistent completion of the weekly content priorities, quality and accuracy of published material, engagement with our readership, and progress toward improving HBH’s website visibility and content performance.
This is a 9-hour-per-week position. Weekly priorities will be established with the marketing team to ensure the core deliverables can be completed within the available hours.
Pay: $35.00 per hour
