Swan & Edgar – Product Designer – Watches & Accessories

Job Overview

Swan & Edgar is a British watch brand creating distinctive timepieces through original design, technical detail and British-inspired storytelling. We are seeking a versatile Product Designer to support the development of watches and related products from concept through to production.

This varied role requires someone comfortable moving between physical product design, technical development, graphic work and wider project-support tasks as requirements evolve.

Main Duties

• Support the watch-design process from early concept development through to production.

• Research watch movements, materials, finishes, market trends and competitor products.

• Conduct brand, historical and thematic research to support new product concepts.

• Create realistic watch illustrations and product visualisations using Adobe Photoshop.

• Produce accurate vector or CAD artwork for watch dials, casebacks and other product components.

• Review and analyse manufacturer technical drawings, renderings and production files against approved designs.

• Adapt designs in response to technical or manufacturing requirements while preserving the approved design direction.

• Organise design files, references, specifications and product-development feedback.

• Create graphic layouts and production artwork for instruction manuals, presentations and other brand materials.

• Assist with basic website layouts and digital design work where required.

• Participate in regular team meetings and communicate project progress clearly.

• Support wider creative, technical and organisational tasks as project requirements develop.

Skills and Experience Required

• Demonstrable experience developing a physical product beyond the initial concept stage.

• An understanding of how products progress from research and design development through to technical refinement and manufacture.

• Advanced Adobe Photoshop skills, with the ability to create realistic product illustrations and visualisations.

• Strong Adobe Illustrator and/or CAD skills, including confident vector drawing and accurate artwork preparation.

• Good understanding of graphic design, typography and layout.

• Strong attention to detail and an ability to work accurately with proportions, measurements and technical information.

• A practical understanding of physical product design and manufacturing processes.

• Watch-design experience or knowledge of watches is desirable but not mandatory.

• Basic Figma or website-design experience is preferable.

• Strong research, organisation and file-management skills.

• Clear written and verbal communication.

• Able to manage several projects and respond carefully to feedback.

• Adaptable and comfortable contributing to tasks outside traditional product-design responsibilities.

• Comfortable working remotely and communicating with an international team and manufacturing partners.

Application

Please provide:

• At least one project showing your involvement in developing a physical product beyond the initial concept stage.

• At least one example of a realistic product illustration or visualisation.
