The part-time Bookkeeper will own month-end close for multiple clients, including transaction categorization, account reconciliations, sales tax, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation, with potential growth to full-time and more complex client work.
Responsibilities
• Own month-end close for 12 to 14 clients in QuickBooks Online — categorization, reconciliations to zero, adjusting entries, financial statements
• Reconcile sales tax collected to sales and prepare the filing
• Follow the written procedure for each client, and tell us when the procedure is wrong rather than working around it
• Communicate with client contacts to gather documents and resolve transaction questions
• Document your work in Double so a reviewer can follow it without asking you
• Review your own work before it leaves. Every time
Skills
• Around 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping, with at least some of it carrying multiple clients at once — a bookkeeping firm, CPA firm, or fractional practice
• Single-company experience is fine if you’ve also done multi-client
• QuickBooks Online — comfortable, not learning
• Bank and credit card reconciliation, month-end close, basic sales tax
• You understand debits and credits, not just which button to click
• Clear written communication — most of our work is in writing
• Available Eastern business hours
• QBO ProAdvisor certification
• Sales tax filing experience
• reputed company, Double/Keeper, or reputed company
• Restaurant, retail, or property management clients
