About the role
RPS Electrical Specialists Ltd is looking for an experienced Electrical Certification Administrator to support our growing solar PV and battery installation teams.
We carry out multiple solar PV, battery storage and associated electrical installations each week. Our electricians complete the installation, inspection and testing on site and provide the required test results, photographs and installation information.
We are looking for someone experienced in electrical certification who can take this information and prepare Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) ready for final technical review and sign-off by our responsible electrician/QS.
This is a remote role and would suit someone with previous experience working for an electrical contractor, electrical testing company or compliance department. It may also suit an experienced or semi-retired electrician looking for flexible home-based work.
Main responsibilities
• Prepare Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) from information supplied by our site electricians
• Enter circuit and test results accurately onto certification software
• Complete schedules of test results and relevant installation information
• Review submitted job information and identify anything missing before the certificate is passed for approval
• Work from electricians’ test sheets, photographs and job records
• Prepare certificates to a consistent standard ready for technical review/sign-off
• Communicate with our office/site teams where information is missing or unclear
• Maintain an organised record of certificates outstanding, in progress and completed
• Help us achieve a fast turnaround from completed installation to completed certification
What we’re looking for
Previous experience completing electrical certificates is essential.
Ideally, you will have:
• Experience preparing EICs
• Good knowledge of electrical terminology and BS 7671 certification
• Understanding of electrical test results including Zs, R1+R2, insulation resistance, RCD testing, Ze and PFC
• Experience with NAPIT FastTest or similar electrical certification software
• Experience working from electricians’ site/test information
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to recognise when information or test results are missing
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently from home
Experience with solar PV, battery storage, inverters and renewable installations would be a major advantage.
Important
This is primarily a certification preparation and administration role.
Our electricians carry out the installation, inspection and testing. The successful applicant will prepare the certificates from the information provided, ready for the appropriate RPS electrician/QS to review and sign where they hold responsibility.
We are not looking for someone simply to sign off other electricians’ work.
Hours & workload
The position can be flexible and initially offered on a freelance/part-time basis.
We would like to build a long-term relationship with the right person as our installation volume increases.
Work can generally be completed remotely and does not require attendance at our installations.
