Mondrian Alpha are working exclusively with a privately owned, Southern Africa-focused fuel trading group to appoint a Financial Accountant to join their lean senior team. This is an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial international business, work closely with its founders and develop a broad accounting and commercial skill set.
The group trades more than one billion litres of fuel annually, generating approximately US$700–900 million in turnover. Despite its scale, it retains a small management team, a flat structure and a collaborative, down-to-earth culture.
Reporting directly to the London-based CFO, CEO and Founders you will maintain books and records, prepare invoices and bank payments, complete reconciliations and prepare financial statements. You will also support cash flow and working capital reporting, working closely with trading colleagues, local finance teams and external advisers.
Alongside the accounting remit, you will gain exposure to commercial relationships with major trading counterparties, including one of the world’s largest trading firms. A two-year development period will support your progression into broader financial reporting, treasury and operational responsibilities.
The role suits someone with one to four years’ post-qualification experience, ideally from a mid-tier accountancy firm covering commodities, oil and gas or energy clients, or a mid-sized commodities business. Strong accounting fundamentals, a proactive approach and fluency in Hindi or Gujarati are required.
The position is remote, with office space available for onboarding and training. Regular international travel is required, particularly to Southern Africa, alongside visits to Dubai.
