This role focuses on technical accounting, financial reporting, and strategic business initiatives, requiring an experienced professional with a strong U.S. GAAP foundation.ResponsibilitiesServe as the company’s reputed company reputed company expert on U.S. GAAP and complex technical accounting mattersResearch, evaluate, and document accounting conclusions for complex and non-routine business transactionsPrepare and review technical accounting memorandums supporting accounting positions and policy decisionsDevelop, maintain, and update corporate accounting policies and ensure consistency across the organizationMonitor new accounting pronouncements and lead the implementation of new accounting standardsPartner with business leaders to provide accounting guidance on strategic initiatives and complex transactionsSupport quarterly and annual financial reporting processesPartner with Corporate Accounting to ensure complex transactions are properly reflected in the financial statementsAssist with the preparation and review of SEC reporting disclosures, where applicableEnsure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policiesCollaborate with Finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and operational business leaders on technical accounting mattersProvide accounting guidance related to acquisitions, restructurings, financing transactions, contracts, and other strategic initiativesSupport both internal and external audits by preparing technical accounting documentation and responding to auditor inquiriesAct as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on accounting implications of key business decisionsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, documentation, and internal controlsLead implementation of new accounting guidance and process improvementsSupport finance transformation initiatives, ERP enhancements, and continuous process optimizationDrive consistency and efficiency across accounting policies and reporting processesSkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA license preferredApproximately 10 to 14 years of progressive accounting experienceBig 4 public accounting experience required, with candidates currently at the Senior Manager level (approximately 3 to 4 years as Senior Manager) strongly encouraged to applyDeep technical accounting knowledge and strong understanding of U.S. GAAPExperience researching complex accounting issues and preparing technical accounting memorandumsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to influence stakeholders and partner effectively across multiple functional areasExperience working with reputed company ERPExperience supporting publicly traded companiesAutomotive, automotive supplier, reputed company, or mobility industry experience is a plusExperience supporting mergers and acquisitions, business combinations, or other complex accounting transactionsExperience with SEC reporting and external auditsDemonstrated ability to lead projects and drive process improvements in a fast-paced environmentBenefitsAnnual bonusEquity opportunity (where applicable)A comprehensive benefits packageFully remote position based in the Chicago areaCompany OverviewFounded in 2004, SOAProjects is a national advisory firm with over 22 years of experience offering end-to-end services across the corporate lifecycle.
