Baton is career mentoring for the AI era. Access to good career opportunities often depends on who you know, and AI is reshaping what entry-level work looks like. Baton makes meaningful career conversations easier to start by connecting early-career professionals with people a few years ahead and with experienced professionals in the same field.
Every conversation works both ways: experience and judgement one way, practical AI skills the other. Baton is being built as a simple app (swipe, match, chat). During our free pilot, we match people by hand, starting with finance and consulting, before expanding to other industries and regions. Pass it on.
Role Description
This is a free mentoring programme, not a job. There’s no pay and no cost to take part, and you can step back at any time.
Aiming for a career in finance or consulting? Baton matches you with near-peers (people 1–5 years into the roles you’re aiming for) and experienced professionals in the field you want to enter. You choose who you’d like to talk to, and you only meet people who’ve said yes.
What’s involved:
• Completing a short profile with your goals, target roles and the help you’re looking for
• Choosing from a short list of near-peers and experienced professionals we send you
• Joining video calls, usually 30 minutes, to ask about roles, applications, CVs, interviews, assessment centres, case interviews and career direction
• Optionally sharing the AI tools you use, and working with a mentor on a small, real problem from their field, using public or made-up data
• Optionally recording what you build together in a Baton card for your CV or LinkedIn
• Sharing brief feedback to help us improve the pilot
• Most people have one or two calls a month.
Qualifications
• Final-year students, recent graduates, people in their first year of work, or career switchers moving into finance or consulting
• Interested in areas such as investment banking, corporate banking, asset or wealth management, private equity or venture capital, equity research, credit, risk and compliance, insurance, fintech, sustainable finance or ESG, climate risk, financial regulation, management consulting, financial advisory or risk advisory, including Big Four firms
• Any degree subject welcome
• Curious, proactive and prepared to come to calls with questions
• Comfortable with video calls, and reliable about the sessions you book
• Aged 18 or over, and willing to follow Baton’s code of conduct
• Using AI tools for study or work, for example for research, data analysis, writing or modelling, is a plus, but not required
