Service & Credit Controller
Would you like to play a central role in keeping an engineering service business commercially organised, financially healthy and running smoothly?
EPS Water is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Service & Credit Controller to support our service, repair, spare parts and related project activities. Working closely with our operational teams and the wider EPS Group Finance function, you will take ownership of credit control and customer account administration while helping maintain reliable financial, stock and enterprise-system records.
Based at our Poole facility, you will also support stock administration, import/export documentation, facilities coordination and the integration of new business activities. This is a varied role for someone who enjoys combining financial discipline with practical problem-solving and teamwork.
Partial remote working can be accommodated by agreement and in line with our policy.
What you’ll get involved in
Keep cash flowing and customer accounts on track
• Manage credit control across service, repair, spare parts and related projects, from customer purchase orders and variations through invoicing, reconciliation and payment collection.
• Monitor overdue balances, follow up customers professionally, minimise aged debts and escalate persistent non-payment.
• Maintain accurate customer account records, payment allocations, reconciliations and credit limits.
• Investigate invoice and payment disputes with engineers, project managers, sales colleagues and customers; coordinate prompt resolution.
• Coordinate appropriate legal or formal recovery proceedings for bad debts in liaison with management and Group Finance.
• Assess customer creditworthiness, review payment behaviours and recommend or set appropriate credit limits within agreed authorities.
• Supporting other parts of the business (e.g. contracts, products) where needed.
Maintain accurate systems and financial information
• Use the IFS enterprise system to maintain accurate supplier, customer, transaction and financial records.
• Prepare aged debtor reports, customer account information and cashflow inputs or forecasts for local service and project teams.
• Support improvements to invoicing, credit control, reporting and financial administration procedures.
• Assist colleagues with day-to-day IFS usage, migration to IFS Cloud and escalation of system issues to central IT and Finance teams.
Support materials stock and compliance
• Support import/export paperwork for spare parts, equipment, materials and components.
• Help maintain stock records for project components, spare parts and consumables, including periodic stock-takes, inventories and reconciliation of discrepancies.
• Prepare Intrastat and EU Sales reporting information for HMRC compliance on behalf of the EPS Finance team, working with relevant specialists as required.
Help the business operate and grow effectively
• Assist with the integration of new business units into the EPS Water portfolio, including financial and administrative processes.
• Help establish practical financial, stock and credit control arrangements for new business lines.
• Coordinate day-to-day administration of the Poole facility, including maintenance, utilities, services and consumables.
• Work collaboratively with local operational colleagues and Group support functions, taking on other relevant business administration tasks when required.
Note that the initial training in systems and processes needed for this role is likely to involve spending some time at our Group headquarters in Co. Cork, Ireland.

We’re looking for someone who is confident managing customer accounts, comfortable working across systems and able to build constructive relationships with operational and finance colleagues.
Your background
• Degree, diploma, HNC or similar qualification in finance, engineering or other related discipline.
• Experience in credit control, accounts receivable or a comparable finance administration role.
• Good working knowledge of Excel, Outlook and accounting or ERP systems; experience of using IFS would be an advantage.
• Experience with purchase orders, service job administration, invoicing, customer reconciliations and debt collection. Knowledge of inventory controls, import/export administration or HMRC reporting requirements would be an advantage.
• A background in engineering, manufacturing, equipment servicing, maintenance or spare parts operations would be beneficial.
Your strengths
• Commercially aware, with an understanding of cashflow, working capital and credit risk.
• Professional, confident and diplomatic when pursuing payments or resolving customer queries.
• Accurate, methodical and able to manage competing deadlines and confidential financial information.
• Proactive, persistent and solutions-focused, with good judgement about when to escalate issues
